A person who laced sweets with tranquilliser and distributed them to minors at a summer camp in Leicestershire has confessed to sexual crimes against two children who were nine and ten years old.
Jon Ruben was arrested after eight children and a grown-up fell ill at the facility in the summer month.
The senior citizen, from that region, pleaded guilty to a multiple criminal counts when he was present at the courthouse on the end of the week.
Nevertheless, he refused to admit one of the sexual offences he was facing, which was involving a young boy.
Ruben was held in detention prior to a additional proceeding on late November.
'Treat game'
The legal representative, presenting evidence, detailed the criminal behavior to the judicial body.
She stated his victims were under-privileged children who were attending a summer camp which he managed.
Ruben engaged in a "candy game" with the youngsters, the prosecutor stated, in which he would access the boys' rooms when they were settling down and tell them to eat sweets "rapidly".
She told the court the man had played this game with the young males "over an extended period", and minors had previously fallen ill the following morning.
She said Ruben had been successful in rationalizing this over a long period as the youngsters being "overexcited from fun", until his stepchild had worries in summer 2025.
The prosecutor continued: "In the summer" his stepchild had concerns about the situation, justifiably.
"They decided to have a look in the defendant's belongings."
The legal counsel said objects including lubricant, ointment and injection devices were located, and his stepson notified the police about his concerns.
She stated Ruben proceeded to play the "candy game" with six children that night - Saturday 26 July - and they were all sick the following morning.
"The police had not arrived by that point," she stated further.
The regulatory agency, the investigative body, earlier informed that it was reviewing the police response of the events.
Mrs Prior explained the children were unable to walk properly due to their condition, so Ruben's stepson called the police again.
She explained the man then played the "sweet game" in a space of five youngsters.
